Games Region Coding

XBOX games and consoles have different region codings (Similar to DVD Region Codings).
These region codes signify the region/countries that the game or console was marketed for.

To protect the local distributors and for pricing control, the XBOX games purchased in the UK, for example, may not be playable on a console that was purchased in the USA.

For Singapore, our console region is NTSC/J (which stands for Japan). All consoles sold locally in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore are of the NTSC/J region coding. This means that games with the NTSC/J coding are fully playable on the NTSC/J console.

However, there are some games which can be playable on the NTSC/J console even if their region coding states that they are NTSC/U or PAL region.

Such games are known somewhat to be region free.

This means that you may be able to buy such games from Ebay international sellers that ship from USA/UK/Europe to Singapore. Some of these region free games can be found cheaply on Amazon or other online shops. Do make your own calculations with regards to shipping and price comparison to local retail pricing before you buy.

Last but not least, check that the region coded game is indeed playable on the NTSC/J console before you make the payment on ebay/paypal to the seller..

Here are some known sites to check for compatibility for other region coded games on the Asian XBOX NTSC/J console.

Though the lists from the above sites seemed comprehensive, we cannot be held responsible if the games purchased of other region coding does not play on your console.
